Best Electric RC Kit Cars you can buy Today

If you wanted to build your RC car rather than just buy one off the shelf there are some great kits on the market to get you started. By building your RC car you get a better understanding of how it works.

The market leader is Tamiya they have been manufacturing quality kits since 1948.

No one has successfully challenged Tamiya in the RC car market.

This is a great way to get a taste of proper engineering if only in 1:10 scale.

We are going to look at 4 Tamiya kits one is entry level 2 wheel drive good for the beginner to start with.

The other is a slightly more challenging 4 wheel drive model but still is in the scope of most entry level modelers.

The 1:10 scale Tamiya sand viper is a great first RC kit car it is easy assembly. All the parts are quality and fit together really well with out much trimming or fuss.

This kit has the 2 wheel drive DT02 chassis the drive going through the rear wheels.

It comes with a standard 540 motor but this is easy to upgrade to a more powerful brushless if needed.

The high stance, spiked wheels and double wishbone suspension with oil filled dampers means that the sand viper can cope with many different surfaces.

The tough body comes unpainted so you can paint it any colour you like and give the opportunity to put your individual stamp on your car.

The first kit I had and still have today is a sand viper it is great fun to use and build a great way to start out with your first car.

The Tamiya Hotshot

By Joe Rich

Tamiya Hotshot

The Tamiya Hotshot is another 1 :10 scale quality kit that is a little more advanced than the Sand Viper it has a 4 wheel drive and 2 gearboxes.

The Tamiya Hotshot is one of Tamiya greatest successes when released in 1986.

When it was rereleased in 2012 Tamiya kept all the features that made it so popular back in the 80s.

The Hotshot has 4 wheel drive with double wishbone suspension on all four wheels.

Spiked tyres oil filled dampers and good ground clearance makes this car fun off road on rough terrain as well as smoother surfaces.

The Hotshot comes with a tuned Tamiya GP motor so this is fast as well as fun.

Both these kits are great way to learn how your RC model works and a great way to get started in the world of RC.
